Just another Monday

 Mon, 22 Jun 2026 19:53 UTC

There is nothing like waking up on a Monday morning in the UK and finding out that there is to be yet another Prime Minister. It was no surprise, of course; the media knew all about it beforehand and so did DJT. Meh! The UK population has become as ungovernable as our French neighbours. Blame Brexit and let’s all move on.

Except, we are not moving on. Today, the FT has two articles where the authors “plant the seed” of a path back to Europe. As if Burnham is going to dare give that one a try if he ever sits in the hot seat. Still, the FT makes a good case. The UK is worse off since leaving the bloc, I think everyone can agree on that, even the extreme right-wing politicians.

A big, fat “whatever” from me. There are more important things to worry and care about today.

Sunday was mostly spent away from the PC (for once). The weather was wonderful (not too hot) so the afternoon was spent in the garden, tidying-up a bit. It was good thinking-time. It’s amazing how the mind drifts when the hands are busy.

The Sunday gardening made me also think about my little budget app. Later, during the Belgium vs Iran game, I drafted another dashboard and started plugging it into the data whilst keeping one eye on the 0:0 game. It is taking shape slowly and it already looks much better than v0.1.

My Monday started with a rush of ideas for Jottings, so a few pushes were made. I’m getting there, and it’s starting to become a more pleasant place to write in. There are still a few odd bugs crawling around, but slowly we must go.

I’ve treated myself to a day off on Wednesday…we have temperatures expected to hit 34°C and I’m not working in that! I will most likely still be sat at the desk, scripting something or other instead of being outside. I think I need to start planning now on how to avoid “inside” on that day. I suppose the more I keep repeating “avoid inside on Wednesday” in my head, the more likely I am to actually do so. Let’s see. Knowing this British weather, we might very well have rain or snow.
