Last day collaboration

Finally, on the very last day for me in the office this year, I managed some collaboration. Oh, the irony! Just when I posted about the lack thereof YESTERDAY MORNING! Maybe, just maybe this is how the universe works. You’ve got to speak it/think it and it will manifest, right there and then. OK then, in that case:

Dear Universe,

I’m thinking of a couple of million in my bank account. I’m waiting… hurry it up please! I’ll be ever so appreciative, thanks!

Yesterday, I mentioned something in passing to a colleague about an issue I was having and he offered to help. He took time out of his busy day and sat with me. We put our heads together and solved my issue with a clear way forward. The conversation then led to another issue of his, and at the same sitting, we solved his problem as well. That was a good day; that’s productivity and collaboration if I ever saw it. Cross-divisional and everything; that’ll make HR proud, conforming to and promoting of core company values and all that.

The best part is that his boss got involved in the tail-end of the conversation and he too had his own light bulb moment on what we were discussing and that set him off asking our thoughts on a third pinch-point of his, which could possibly tie in with my solution and that of my colleague. So, win-win all around.

OK, maybe this can turn into something good. Let’s see where it goes. Maybe a new year’s resolution in the making. And the cash from the Universe. (I’m still waiting btw…)
